François Legault M.S.W., R.S.W. has been working with employers and employees improving workplace and individual mental health and productivity for over 35 years.
He has led the largest internal Employee Assistance Program in Canada for over 13 years, and has been President of the Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA).
He is a certified peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation (COA), trained in Disability Management (NIDMAR), Disaster and Trauma Management (ICISF, NOVA, Psychological First Aid), risk management, case-management and various approaches to counselling. He has been the official Champion of a major research-action project on managing psychosocial risks in emergency operation centers (SIMTEC, Justice Institute of British Columbia).
He has given several workshops and presentation at national and international conferences in both English and French (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago, Madrid, Paris).
An Executive for many years, he gave advice to the most senior decision-makers on matters of workplace mental health, and wellness.
Past President of the Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA), he has a solid understanding of Associations, Governance and Workplace Wellness Programs in the USA as well as Canada.
He currently volunteers for several not-for-profit organizations including Partners for Mental Health, Mindful Employer Canada, and the Mental Health Commission of Canada as an Ambassador and a Case-Study Expert Panel Committee member.
He is one of the authors of National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety as well as a version for Paramedics and is helping many organizations implementing the Standards.
As a Certified Instructor in Mental Health First Aid and The Working Mind he has trained over 1500 employees and managers, receiving the highest levels of participant satisfaction.
François is the Principal Consultant at Consult-Action Inc, as well as for Mindful Employer Canada/Employeur consciencieux Canada, he offers advice and training to improve employee health and performance, and how to help employees remain and return to work successfully.
He has received a most distinguished award in 2013, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for Outstanding Contribution to the Community.
He believes in people’s resilience, adaptability and creativity given the right support and opportunity.
