Being a Mindful Employee: An orientation to psychological health and safety in the workplace is designed to help employees explore how they can contribute to, or take away from, a psychologically safe work environment.

This free online training program includes 4 modules:

  • Managing you which includes scenarios about maintaining balance and supporting your own growth and development at work.
  • Interacting with others which includes scenarios about inclusion, support and psychological protection at work.
  • Dealing with work stressors which includes scenarios about clarity, competencies, workload and influence at work.
  • Contributing to a positive culture which includes scenarios about civility, respect, pride at work and supporting others.

In each scenario employees will categorize 3 common responses into those that are likely to have a negative impact on psychological safety, those that may be careless or have a neutral impact, and those that are likely to have a positive impact.

After passing a final quiz (at 75% or better), employees can download a certificate of completion. This program can be done individually, or the employer can assign Being a Mindful Employee to all employees and track completion. Employers do not have access to individual responses.

This course is recommended for anyone interested in learning more about psychological safety at work.

Delivery method

This is a free online e-learning course, hosted by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. All an employee needs is a device with access to the internet.
